Male BV Partner Support

Prescription BV care for partners who care.

Does your vagina-having partner struggle with bacterial vaginosis (BV)? You may be able to help. Recent research shows that treating patients assigned male at birth with a combination of oral and topical antibiotics may positively impact rates of BV recurrence in their partners.

  • No in-person appointment or insurance necessary
  • If prescribed, treatment includes Metronidazole 500mg and Clindamycin 2% Cream

Are you a female partner with a female partner? Head to BV Antibiotics for care.

While this treatment is not yet recognized as standard care, Wisp has chosen to offer this treatment option, as prescribed by your provider based on his or her clinical judgment, based on the potential benefits of Metronidazole and Clindamycin in patients assigned male at birth.

FSA & HSA accepted.

How does BV partner support work?

New research has shed light on how male partners may contribute to their partners’ BV diagnosis! A recent study has been released showing that administering a combined oral and topical antibiotic regimen* for male partners, in addition to first-line treatment of women for bacterial vaginosis, resulted in a lower rate of recurrence of bacterial vaginosis within 12 weeks when compared to standard antibiotic care delivered to females alone. The treatment was so successful that the study was halted early so all participants could be provided with this medication.

*It is important to note that while this research references Metronidazole 400mg as the standard dosage recommendation in Australia, the standard U.S. dosage is 500mg.

Who is BV Partner Support for?

  • You are assigned male at birth
  • You are in an ongoing sexual relationship with a partner assigned female at birth
  • Your partner is receiving prescription treatment or has a confirmed current diagnosis for BV
