What makes Saxenda different?
Like Wegovy, Saxenda is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, a group of medications used primarily to treat type 2 diabetes and obesity. These medications work by slowing gastric emptying so you feel fuller for longer, thus reducing your appetite. Unlike Wegovy, Saxenda is administered daily, rather than weekly, and in research, Saxenda patients experienced an average loss of 5% of their body weight compared to Wegovy patients’ average weight loss of 15%.
