Wisp is now partnering with Daye, a company dedicated to bridging the healthcare gap for patients with vaginas and lifting the veil on medical research. Wisp is offering Daye’s At-Home Vaginal Microbiome Test with FREE delivery to your door! Gain valuable insights into your vaginal health and tackle stubborn recurrent symptoms and infections, like BV, Yeast, and more!

In recent years, advancements in health technology have revolutionized how we understand and care for our bodies, particularly when it comes to sexual health. Daye’s simple, at-home screening process goes beyond diagnosis so you can better understand your vaginal microbiome, a complex ecosystem of beneficial and harmful bacteria. When your microbiome is healthy, it can help protect you from uncomfortable symptoms and STIs. However, an unhealthy microbiome can allow otherwise harmless microbes to grow out of control, causing inflammation, odor, pain, and unusual discharge. Read on to learn more about Daye’s Microbiome Screen and how it could be benefiting you!

Who is Daye For?

Anyone with a vagina can use Daye! The Daye At-Home Vaginal Microbiome Test is particularly beneficial for patients seeking to better understand and optimize their vaginal health. This includes those who:

  • Experience recurrent vaginal issues: Those who suffer from frequent vaginal infections or discomfort may find Daye testing particularly useful in identifying potential underlying causes.
  • Are planning pregnancy: For women planning to conceive, understanding the vaginal microbiome can provide insights into fertility and overall reproductive health.
  • Want to monitor their vaginal health: Even in the absence of symptoms, monitoring the vaginal microbiome can help in maintaining optimal health and preventing future issues.

What exactly does Daye test for?

  • Daye screens for 7 microbes that are commonly found in and around the vagina:
  • Lactobacilli—helpful, protective bacteria
  • Gardnerella vaginalis and Prevotella—anaerobic bacteria commonly linked to bacterial vaginosis
  • Candida—a fungus which is the primary cause of vaginal yeast infections
  • Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma parvum, and Ureaplasma urealyticum—commonly linked to reproductive difficulties and vaginal infections

All of these microbes can be found in the vagina even in the absence of symptoms. However, infections can occur when your microbiome is out of balance due to triggers like sexual activity, menopause, lifestyle changes, stress, or even the introduction of new soaps or detergents. Daye’s screening can let you know if any of these microbes are outside of the normal range and what treatments may help with symptoms, especially if they are recurring.

How microbiome screening can help

The benefits of using Daye for vaginal microbiome testing are multifaceted:

  • Personalized Insights: By analyzing the vaginal microbiota, Daye provides personalized insights into the types and quantities of bacteria present, including Lactobacilli, a type of bacteria that can protect against BV, Yeast, and STIs.
  • Early Detection: Detecting imbalances early can lead to timely interventions, like the addition of helpful probiotics into your routine, potentially preventing more serious vaginal health issues.
  • Empowerment Through Knowledge: Having a more comprehensive understanding of your personal microbiome can help you to make more informed decisions about your health, including lifestyle adjustments or targeted treatments.

Wisp makes it easy!

1. Order your kit

Order Daye’s At-Home Vaginal Microbiome Test online through Wisp. We provide free delivery to your door in 3-5 days, and your kit comes equipped with all the necessary components for sample collection and return shipment.

2. Sample collection

Once the kit arrives, the next step is to collect your vaginal sample. Daye provides clear, easy-to-follow instructions for collecting the sample in the comfort of your own home using an innovative tampon design. Unlike traditional swabs that can be pokey and unfamiliar, the tampon is easily inserted using a traditional applicator and is left in place for about 20 minutes. This method allows the tampon to absorb a more comprehensive sample than a swab for additional insights. The collection process is designed to be discreet and straightforward, ensuring the most comfort and privacy possible.

3. Returning your sample

After collecting the sample, follow the included instructions to return your sample to Daye’s lab. After your sample reaches Daye’s lab, it will be analyzed within 5–10 days. You will receive an email notification from Daye when your results are ready for review, or if there was an issue with your sample.

4. Reading your results

The results typically include:

  • Microbiome Composition: Detailed information on the types of bacteria present in the vaginal microbiome sample. Daye’s At-Home Vaginal Microbiome Screening specifically detects the relative abundance of Lactobacilli and Anaerobic bacteria as a percentage of all bacteria in the sample.
  • Analysis Interpretation: Explanation of what the results mean in the context of vaginal health, including any potential imbalances or indicators of optimal health. Very high levels of Lactobacilli (>80% of all bacteria) are generally associated with a healthy microbiome. Increased levels of anaerobic bacteria, such as Gardnerella, Porphyromonas and Prevotella spp. may suggest a higher risk of bacterial vaginosis.
  • Recommendations (if applicable): If you require treatment for an active infection, you can return to Wisp and order Yeast, BV, or STI treatment from a licensed provider! No active infections, but your microbiome needs a health boost? Choose from Wellness options like Boric Acid or Equalizing Probiotics that help maintain your vaginal balance and prevent infections.

The Daye At-Home Vaginal Microbiome Test is yet another tool that empowers you to take control of your sexual health. By making at-home diagnostics easy and accessible, we’re helping you be more proactive in your healthcare and take your personal healthcare management to the next level. Whether you're managing recurrent vaginal issues, planning for pregnancy, or simply prioritizing preventive care, Wisp & Daye empower you with the knowledge to make informed decisions about your vaginal health.
