How do I know if I am menopausal?
In the US, the average age of menopause is 51, but it can happen earlier or later. You are considered menopausal when you have not had a period for 12 consecutive months. Perimenopause can begin eight to 10 years before menopause as your ovaries gradually produce less and less estrogen—it usually begins in your 40s. You can be in perimenopause for several months or several years. Many people begin feeling symptoms like irregular periods, hot flashes and mood swings in perimenopause, but symptoms can vary widely so let your healthcare provider know about anything you’re concerned about.

Menopause FAQ
Your Provider
Menopause is a unique experience for everyone. Symptoms and journey can be highly variable, and make a huge impact on quality of life. For too long menopause symptoms have been under-acknowledged and under-treated. It is great to see that women now have options both in person and through telehealth for evaluation and treatment. As data and research continues to emerge in this area, I look forward to being able to give women even more options to understand menopause while improving their health and quality of life.
