How to treat vaginal dryness
A decrease in estrogen levels is one common cause of vaginal dryness. This decline may occur naturally as you age, during menopause, or as a result of another big hormonal change, such as during postpartum or while breastfeeding. When estrogen levels decline, the skin and tissues of your vulva and vagina become thinner and less elastic, and your vagina can become dry. Certain medications can cause vaginal dryness, too—cold and allergy meds, antidepressants, and birth control pills can all lead to some discomfort down there.
